Basketball fans who watched LeBron James and Team USA mount an epic comeback against Serbia in their semi-final duel will talk about the game’s events for months.
Not only did they witness a vintage Steph Curry performance, but they also bore witness to history as LeBron James became the only player in Olympic history with multiple triple-doubles. They also saw Serbia remind everyone that the United States isn’t the only nation good at basketball in the 21st century.
Some may find it difficult to identify a favorite moment in this game since it was full of excellent basketball and copious amounts of drama. However, some may point to the moment King James celebrated with Carmelo Anthony who was watching him play from the sidelines.
During the game, fans saw the former New York Knicks forward and Team USA captain say something to LeBron’s ear. Fans then noticed a change in how King James played.
Fans wondering on what Melo told his good friend don’t have to wonder as the 39-year-old forward let everyone in on what he said.
LeBron James says Carmelo Anthony encouraged him during Team USA’s comeback win vs. Serbia
After the Americans’ 95-91 victory against the Eagles, James instantly took to social media to rave about everything related to the game. While he did praise his teammates and the effort they put out, one story that stood out was the moment he shared with Melo during the game.
Anthony was seen speaking with his close friend and longtime Team USA teammate LeBron James during the game, and now James has provided some insight into what the future Hall of Famer had to say.
“You said, ‘Gotta get it done the hard way.’ I heard you loud and clear my brother,” James wrote on his Instagram story Thursday night.
Melo’s words worked like a charm on his 2004 and 2008 Olympic teammate as he finished the game with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.
France will be a tough nut to crack in the gold-medal match, and they will virtually be playing an away game. However, James understands that the toughest challenges make for the sweetest victories. He’s experienced it at the Oracle Arena in 2016, and he’ll hopefully recreate that feeling in Paris.
