Even though he proclaimed himself as the squad’s number one option, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards can still honor those he’s playing with. The most recent example was when he gave LeBron James and Stephen Curry their flowers now that he’s playing with them as part of Team USA.
Team USA cruised to an 86-72 victory over Canada in a pre-Olympic exhibition game. Edwards led Team USA with 13 points, while Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis added a double-double. Despite some early struggles with turnovers, the Americans dominated the paint and on the glass.

For Canada, R.J. Barrett scored 12 points, but the team struggled overall, shooting just 7-of-32 from 3-point range. Canada coach Jordi Fernandez acknowledged that his team did not play to their identity, giving credit to the strong US squad.
Both teams have work to do before the Olympics begin on July 26. Team USA, in particular, saw big man Joel Embiid foul out in the third quarter and might need to adjust to FIBA rules. The US also saw Kevin Durant sit out due to a calf injury, though Derrick White is expected to join the team.
The exhibition took place in a lively atmosphere in Las Vegas, with the American stars receiving loud cheers, especially James and Curry. This star-studded US team, featuring 11 current All-Stars, is poised to vie for the country’s fifth straight Olympic gold medal in Paris.
Minnesota Timberwolves Star Anthony Edwards Reveals True Feelings About Playing With LeBron James and Stephen Curry on Team USA

After Edwards’ first game playing for Team USA, the Timberwolves star explained how it is to play with two legends in Curry and James. In an article by Chris Hine for the Star Tribune, Minnesota’s franchise player told more.
“It’s an honor for me,” Edwards said. “I remember watching these guys [Durant, Curry and James] play against each other in the finals. Sitting in front of the TV like, ‘Yeah.’ So now, I’m here with them. It’s an honor for me. I’m just happy to be here.”
James is turning 40 later this year while Curry is 36 years old. Even at their age, the two stars still play at an elite level for their respective franchise and for Team USA.

With Edwards playing alongside the two legendary stars, there is a strong chance for the American national team to go far in the Paris Olympics. Hopefully, these players will help bring the gold home once the tournament ends in a couple of weeks.
