Without a doubt, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards has a personality that stands out from the crowd. According to Team USA assistant coach Erik Spoelstra, though, there’s something notable about the young All-Star as he plays alongside established legends in Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James and Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry.
Team USA secured an 86-72 victory over Canada in their latest exhibition game ahead of the FIBA World Cup. The American squad was led by standout performances from Edwards and Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis.

Edwards, the Timberwolves’ rising star, showcased his scoring prowess, pouring in a game-high 34 points. He was aggressive in attacking the rim and hit several timely three-pointers to keep the Canadian defense off balance.
Davis also made his presence felt, dominating the interior with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. The one-time NBA champion’s ability to control the paint and protect the rim was crucial in limiting Canada’s opportunities around the basket.
Beyond the star duo, the United States benefited from a balanced effort, with Boston Celtics’ Jrue Holiday and Golden State’s Curry also making valuable contributions. The team’s depth and versatility proved too much for the Canadian squad to overcome.
This victory marks another step forward for Team USA as they continue their preparations for the upcoming FIBA World Cup. The performance of Edwards and Davis, in particular, will provide a significant boost of confidence heading into the major international tournament.
Team USA Assistant Coach Erik Spoelstra Highlights Beauty in Anthony Edwards Personality

Right before Team USA will face against Australia, Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra detailed what makes Edwards special. In an article written by Chris Hine for the Star Tribune, the national team’s assistant coach has something to say about the Minnesota star.
“He channels it in the right way. He wants to win, wants to be a part of winning,” Spoelstra said. “He’s dedicated to the process of it and he’s going to be him, and his personality. He’s not going to change just because he’s on a team of this caliber. I think that’s the beauty of his personality.”
Edwards has an impressive campaign last season when he posted 25.9 points on 46 percent shooting from the field, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He also led Minnesota to a deep playoff run that ended with a Western Finals appearance against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.

Even before the making his official Olympic debut in Paris, Edwards has been making headlines for all the right reasons. With a dominant lineup alongside him, there’s no reason for the Timberwolves guard not to dominate on the global stage.
