Team USA edged Serbia in an absolute thriller at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday. However, Jayson Tatum was not able to help his team on the floor, as he played zero minutes.
Many were perplexed over Team USA head coach Steve Kerr’s apparent decision not to play Tatum despite Serbia giving the Americans all they could handle in the contest. Among those who seemed unhappy with Kerr was no less than Tatum’s mother.
Tatum’s mom was observed by fans on X (formerly Twitter ) re-posting a sentiment from another person, Dan Greenberg of Barstool Sports, that was critical of Kerr amid his surprising coaching stance on the Boston Celtics forward.

This was also the second time that Tatum got benched against Serbia, a fact that only added to the frustration of his mom and many others, especially Celtics fans.
Tatum has played in only three games in Paris, thus far, with averages of 6.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 19.9 minutes.
Unless Tatum is nursing an injury, it is tough to come up with a reason that would satisfy everyone’s curiosity over his DNP in an all-important matchup that nearly went sideways completely for Team USA.
Nevertheless, Team USA got by Serbia via a 95-91 win. Stephen Curry led the way for the gold medal favorite squad with a 36-point explosion. Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James stitched together a triple-double of 16 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds, while Joel Embiid had 19 points.
