Like Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James and Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant is among the most decorated active NBA players to suit up for Team USA’s 2024 Olympic campaign. The thing is, he’s not going to be available for an exhibition game against Australia due to a questionable calf.
Durant has represented the United States national basketball team on multiple occasions. He first played for the national team at the 2010 FIBA World Championship, where the United States won the gold medal. At that time led the team in scoring, averaging 22.8 points per game.

Durant was also a member of the 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic men’s basketball teams, winning gold medals both times. At the 2012 London Olympics, he averaged a team-high 19.5 points per game as Team USA won the gold. Four years later at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Durant again led the team in scoring, averaging 19.4 points per game en route to another gold medal.
Most recently, Durant played a key role in the United States’ gold medal victory at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after leading the team in scoring, rebounds, and assists. Durant’s success with the national team has cemented his status as one of the premier international basketball players of his era.
Team USA Star Kevin Durant To Miss Pre-Olympic Match Against Australia Due To Questionable Calf

After missing Team USA’s exhibition game against Canada, Durant is once again going to miss another pre-Olympic match. According to a tweet by Duane Rankin on X, this time it’ll be against Australia due to a questionable calf.
“Suns superstar Kevin Durant (calf) missed practice, likely won’t play in #TeamUSA exhibition Monday vs. Australia in Abu Dhabi.
Sat out vs. Canada in Vegas. Suffered injury couple of weeks ago.
Coming off healthiest NBA season since Achilles injury with GSW. #Suns #Paris2024,” Rankin tweeted.
According to Team USA head coach Steve Kerr, while Durant is unlikely to play in Monday’s exhibition against Australia, they are taking it day by day and have not discussed replacing him on the roster. The Phoenix Suns star has been present with the team since training camp, though he has not yet participated in a practice.

It remains to be seen whether Durant can become healthy before the Olympics start soon or there’ll be a last minute effort to replace him on the roster. In any case, fans are still hoping the Suns forward can make it in time before the first game is played in Paris.
