Team USA head coach Steve Kerr has already made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of replacing Kevin Durant on the roster despite the former Most Valuable Player’s lingering calf injury.
Even the players on the squad are adamant that there’s just no way USA Basketball is going to send the Phoenix Suns superstar home regardless of his current condition. Just ask Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday.
Team USA News: Jrue Holiday Slams Kevin Durant Replacement Rumors

During a recent media availability session, Coach Kerr was pressed about the possibility of replacing Durant on the final roster. Despite the Golden State Warriors shot-caller already stating that Durant isn’t going anywhere, a reporter still continued pushing the Durant issue.
At that point, Holiday, who was sitting beside Kerr during the interview, could no longer keep his thoughts to himself. The two-time All-Star had to interrupt his coach to clap back at the reporter’s persistence.
“That’s Kevin Durant, my boy. What are we talking about? That’s KD. He needs to be out there,” Holiday said.

I see no lies here.

You can clearly see Holiday shaking his head as he continued listening to the reporter’s questions. He could no longer stand by idly and he just had to take it upon himself to respond on behalf of Kerr.
I’m pretty sure this is how the rest of the squad feels about KD as well. As Holiday so plainly stated, this is Kevin Durant we’re talking about here.
