Team USA star Kevin Durant just made history – again. Durant is now the all-time USA men’s basketball leading rebounder in the Olympics after helping the Americans score an easy 104-83 win over Puerto Rico on Saturday in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Durant had 11 points and four rebounds in the Puerto Rico game. He was already the Olympics’ all-time leading scorer for the United States entering the match against Puerto Rico, so having collected another record in the quadrennial event further boosts his case as the USA Olympics GOAT.
Via Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press:
Kevin Durant has the most points in US men’s Olympic history, passed Melo today for the most rebounds in US men’s Olympic history, has the most 3s in US Olympic history and is six points from passing Lisa Leslie for the most points in US Olympic history.
Durant came off the bench versus Puerto Rico and finished with 11 points on 4/8 shooting from the field with four rebounds and three assists in nearly 19 minutes of action.
It has been such a luxury for Team USA to have Durant, arguably the best scorer in the history of basketball, come off the bench and provide fireworks while also being a walking mismatch because of his size and incredible skills on the court.
He will look to add to his all-time Olympic numbers when Team USA share the floor with Brazil in the quarterfinals this coming Tuesday.
