Team USA just avoided an embarrassing upset as Kevin Durant and company eked out a thrilling 95-91 win against the Nikola Jokic-led Serbia on Thursday. It was a taxing game but Durant still had enough energy to do battle on his other favorite realm — social media.
On Friday morning, Durant went at it with some NBA fans about the topic of player worship. It all seemingly started when Durant jokingly and sarcastically questioned the true loyalty of a Denver Nuggets supporter,
Serbia just took the most talented team in the history of the planet to the wire with a medal on the line.

It got much more intense from there, with some accusing the Team USA forward of hating on Jokic.
Durant bluntly pushed back on that notion.
“Lets talk about the fan culture that’s been created recently,” Durant said in a separate post on X, as a response to a fan who called him out for mocking Nuggets fans.
“A lot of huge egos who believe they are the reason for the advancement of a sport. ALOT of idol worship, a lot of hate and division based off wins and losses, a lot of disrespect of the work being put in by these”
Durant did not stop there:
“That’s what yall do, yall clowns. Use players to push these corny agendas yall got. This a brotherhood fam, u not apart of. It’s a problem now cuz social media got u clowns walkin around wit your chest out like u mean something. YOU DONT!!! YOUR TAKES DONT MATTER.”
Durant has never shied away from showing his true feelings about any subject on social media, so this type of episode is likely not going to be the last from the Phoenix Suns star.
