Kevin Durant’s Team USA and Serbia are set to meet for the second time at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Americans and the Serbians took care of their respective businesses in the quarterfinal round of the tournament to put them on course for a meeting in the semifinals.
Durant, who surpassed USA Basketball icon Lisa Leslie for the most points in the Olympics ever by an American, is looking forward to playing Serbia again.
“They’re just more familiar with us,” Durant said. “Understand how we’re coming up there. You understand them as well. So it’s going to be about who wants it more, you know what I’m saying? We’re going to watch the film, study tendencies and all that stuff. ”
Durant was a huge thorn in the side of Serbia in the first meeting. During group play, Durant scored 21 points on 9/13 shooting from the field while coming off the bench in a 110-84 win over the European powerhouse.
Team USA is 3-0 all-time in the Olympics against Serbia, but the Americans still can’t afford to relax. For one, Serbia has Denver Nuggets superstar and three-time NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic. The Serbians reserved a spot in the semifinals by beating Australia, 95-90, on Tuesday behind Jokic’s stellar outing. Jokic torched the Boomers for 21 points, nine assists, and 14 rebounds.
