So much has been made about Kevin Durant‘s health heading into Team USA’s Olympic opener against Serbia on Sunday. The latest report from renowned ESPN insider Brian Windhorst indicated that the Phoenix Suns superstar is doubtful to suit up in the national team’s first game of the tournament due to a lingering calf injury.
According to Windhorst himself, Durant was not at all pleased with him when the former NBA MVP heard the report on TV.
Team USA News: Kevin Durant Pushing to Play vs. Serbia

On Wednesday, Windhorst provided an updated report about Durant and the progress the Suns superstar is making in terms of being available for Sunday’s game. According to the ESPN broadcaster, KD was not at all pleased about Windy’s earlier report.
“Kevin was not happy with me when he saw the TV report that I made a couple of days ago,” Windhorst said. “He’s working very, very hard to get back from this calf injury. Playing for the national team is extremely important to him.”

Windhorst went on to reveal that it was actually head coach Steve Kerr who “delayed his window,” with the national team not wanting to push Durant and risk a more serious injury. Nevertheless, it is clear that Durant himself is determined to do everything he can to be ready for the Serbia game.
“Kevin is anxious to play, he wants to play, doesn’t think [the calf] is going to be an issue,” Windhorst said.
