Regardless of how they got there, Team USA went 5-0 in their tune-up games leading to the upcoming Olympics in Paris. As much as their unbeaten run has proven their utter dominance over the competition, there’s still some doubt surrounding their gold medal credentials, especially considering how they could be without one of their best players due to injury.
At this point, there’s no guarantee that Kevin Durant will be available in the tournament or how healthy he’ll be even if he is able to suit up.
Team USA News: Skip Bayless’ Kevin Durant Truth Bomb
One man who is already questioning Team USA’s ability to go all the way in the Olympics is Skip Bayless. It’s not as if the renowned broadcaster is saying that there’s a lack of talent on the star-studded roster. However, Bayless believes that not having Durant available could be too big a blow for the Americans.
“I’m starting to have my doubts,” Bayless said. “… I think it’s KD or bust. I think they need him to win gold. He is so good at this level.”

Skip’s statement here speaks volumes of what Durant brings to the table on the national level. As Bayless pointed out, there’s no other more seamless player than KD when it comes to playing with other superstars. We have seen this both in the NBA and on the international stage.
The good news for the Americans, though, is that at this point, it appears that Durant is trending in the right direction. His own agent, Rich Kleiman, virtually confirmed KD’s availability for Sunday’s Olympic opener against Serbia.
Bayless might not need to fret too much after all.
