LeBron James and basketball records now seem synonymous with each other. The Team USA star forward on Sunday inched closer to an all-time Olympic record when he finished the game against Serbia with nine assists. With that production, James was able to move up the all-time list for assists in the Summer Games.

James also had 21 points on 9/13 shooting, seven rebounds, and a steal in Team USA’s 110-84 win against Serbia.
James entered the Serbia game 10th on the all-time Olympic dime list with 88 assists and finished the same contest sixth after surpassing Andrew Gaze (Australia), Sun Fengwu (China), and Shane Heal (Australia).
The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player has a great chance of moving up to the place on the list, as he only needs four more assists to get past former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Matthew Dellavedova (Australia), 11 more to clear Manu Ginobili (Argentina), and 16 more to displace Toni Kukoc (Yugoslavia-Croatia) at No. 3.
Dellavedova is also playing in Paris for Australia, though, he doesn’t have the ball as much as James does with Team USA.
The top two men on the list are Sarunas Jasikevicius (Lithuania) and Sarunas Marciulionis (Soviet Union-Lithuania), who had 160 and 121 assists in the Olympics, respectively.
James is also currently tied with Ginobili for third on the Olympic all-time steals list with 37 apiece. Andrei Kirilenko (Russia) and Chris Paul (USA) are first and second with 43 and 38 steals, respectively.
