Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James stole the show yet again on Monday as he led Team USA to a hard-fought 92-86 victory over Germany. LeBron had to step it up in crunch time in this one, scoring 11 of his 20 points in the final frame as he almost single-handedly lifted the Americans against a spirited German side.
To be fair to Germany, they turned in an impressive performance on Monday as they nearly pulled off a major upset against the favorites for the upcoming Olympics. After the game, Germany head coach Gordon Herbert got brutally honest about his team’s tough loss.
Team USA News: Germany Coach Sounds Off on LeBron James’ Heroics
The Germans kept this game close throughout thanks in large part to an 18-point performance by Orlando Magic rising star Franz Wagner. Herbert, however, could not deny the fact that it was LeBron’s heroics that took Team USA home in this game.
“I thought the third quarter we played our best basketball,” Herbert said. “We played with good tempo. … And somebody named LeBron James made some pretty good plays at the end.”

LeBron played just 18 minutes in this one, but he finished with a team-high 20 points on 8-of-11 from the field, to go along with six rebounds, four assists, and two 3-pointers.
This is all in a day’s work for LeBron, who has once again proven that he remains the leader of this star-studded Team USA squad — both on and off the court.
