It is never easy to beat Team USA. It can be much more impossible to do that when the Americans get their outside shooting going. That was the case on Saturday when Team USA unloaded a torrent of 3-pointers to take down Victor Wembanyama and France in the finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
How good were the United States from deep? They shot so well that they established a new record in the history of the finals in the Olympics.
They made 18 three-pointers in the Final, the most by any team in a final of an Olympic tournament. It was their 10th game with 15+ three-pointers at the Olympics, at least seven games more than any other team, ever
USA made it rain from range against France, knocking down 18 of 36 attempts from behind the arc. Stephen Curry, to no one’s surprise, led the team in that area with eight triples, including some backbreaking ones in the clutch. Kevin Durant had three 3-pointers while Anthony Edwards, Devin Booker, and Jrue Holiday each had a couple of treys. LeBron James also connected once from the 3-point region.
Those 18 threes were half of the total field goals made by Team USA, which shot 53.7 percent from the floor overall.
Overall in Paris, the United States shot 46.1 percent on their 3-point attempts.
