It’s no secret Team USA has dominated the Olympics up to this point in time, thanks to no less than the brilliant performance of its roster. Canada star point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, in turn, acknowledged their game and made a promise for his own team as well.
Team USA continued their dominant run at the 2024 Olympics, securing a comfortable 104-83 victory over Puerto Rico on Saturday. The standout performance came from rising star Anthony Edwards, who has quickly emerged as the face of the American squad.
Despite being surrounded by basketball legends like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant, the 23-year-old Edwards has proven he is more than capable of leading the charge. His relentless confidence and scoring prowess have been on full display throughout the tournament.
Against Puerto Rico, Edwards showcased his athleticism and skill, finishing with a team-high 26 points on an efficient 11-of-15 shooting. His highlight-reel plays, including a spectacular windmill dunk, electrified the crowd and further cemented his status as the focal point of the American offense.
Edwards’ dominance extends beyond this particular game, as he has consistently outperformed his superstar teammates in both scoring and field-goal attempts. With his unwavering belief in his abilities, the young phenom has defied expectations and is poised to become the new face of not just Team USA, but the entire NBA.
As the 2024 Olympics progress, all eyes will be on Edwards, the rising star who is quickly establishing himself as the leader of the most dominant basketball team in the world.
Canada Star Point Guard Honestly Reviews Team USA’s Dominance in the Olympics
While Team USA hasn’t faced Canada yet, Gilgeous-Alexander has revealed his take on the most dominant squad in the Olympics. In a video shared by ClutchPoints on X, the Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star guard also made a promise for his team when facing the Americans.
“[Team USA] play to their strengths. They’re obviously very talented, & very deep. You almost have to make no mistakes & play a perfect game when you play against them… As far as Canada, we’ll be ready for whoever we see.”

For their part, Canada’s men’s basketball team made a dominant run through Group A, sweeping all three games including an 88-85 victory over Spain. Canada’s first Olympic men’s basketball appearance since 2000 has been a resounding success, and they will aim to maintain this momentum in the subsequent rounds.
It remains to be seen whether Canada can successfully challenge Team USA for the gold down the line. In any case, it’s going to be a good match when the SGA-led squad meet the American national team soon.
