Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes had sound advice for his social media followers. The star forward, who recently signed a rookie max contract extension with the Raptors this offseason, warned his followers, particularly young single men, about using dating apps.
One Barnes fan page shared the livestream clip of the 23-year-old forward as he answered a fan question about using Tinder to meet girls.
“‘Need a girl? Use Tinder.’ Nah, bro. Don’t do that. Don’t do that. Please, do not listen to that guy and use Tinder, bro. Like that’s sad. That’s going out sad,” said Barnes, “You, if you’re in Canada, you can go to the fair, bro. Everybody’s at the fair right now, bro.”
It wasn’t the first time the Raptors star was asked for dating advice on his stream. Whenever the chance comes, he encourages people to go out in the real world and meet potential partners.
“Go find one at the mall. Like, go to the mall. Go walk outside. … It’s like, alright, you see something that you like, go get her number, don’t be shy, have some confidence in yourself, simple. Like, bro, don’t you want a good girl?” Barnes said.
While Barnes has some valuable insights on dating, he hasn’t been seen with anyone recently.
Toronto Raptors reward Scottie Barnes with rookie max deal
Scottie Barnes came off the best season of his young career with the Toronto Raptors, tallying an average of 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game. He played so well, especially in the first half of the season, earning himself the honor of his first NBA All-Star selection.
Unfortunately, his season abruptly ended in March due to a broken right hand. Thanks to a successful surgery, he’s back in tip-top shape and ready for the training camp.
As mentioned earlier in this article, Barnes signed a rookie max deal with the team. The Raptors front office penned him a five-year, $225-million contract extension that, if Barnes meets some of the requirements, could go up to $270 million. The Raptors are looking to center around Barnes and Immanuel Quickley, who also re-signed as their franchise players with the team.
The Toronto Raptors are part of a rather weak Eastern Conference. But with Barnes leading the charge, the team could surprise the entire league in the coming season. This is an intriguing thought.
