Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky hired Tyler Marsh as their new head coach on Saturday. According to ESPN, Marsh agreed to a multi-year deal to lead a team that finished ninth in the 2023-24 regular season with a 13-27 record.
While Reese was heartbroken by their former coach Teresa Weatherspoon’s departure, she still took the time to welcome her new coach. She took to X to post a simple “W,” perhaps implying that acquiring the services of the former assistant coach to former back-to-back champions Las Vegas Aces is in itself a winning move for the Sky.

In response to Reese’s post, Kiana Marsh, Tyler Marsh’s wife, quote-tweeted her post, saying, “Let’s get it.”

After demonstrating his championship pedigree in Las Vegas, the new Chicago Sky coach will be entrusted with building a championship-caliber team centered around Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, and Chennedy Carter.
The Sky said in a press release on Saturday, “Coach Marsh is widely respected for the development of elite players and shares our goal of being a playoff and championship contender every year.”

It won’t be until the next season before Tyler Marsh and Angel Reese can officially start working together, but the new Chicago Sky coach is familiar with the star forward’s game. He may as well be a fan of hers.
On May 7, Marsh posted on X, praising the young star’s rebounding skills. “You really can’t teach AR’s feel for offensive rebounding,” he said.
Marsh made the comment after Reese’s second preseason game with Sky against the New York Liberty. Chicago won 101-53, with Reese finishing with 13 points, five rebounds, and two blocks in 19 minutes of floor time.
He praised her again on June 23, saying, “Future of the Sky is in good hands. Young, tough & don’t give af about anybody’s opinions other than their own. Gotta respect it.” The post came after Reese led the Sky to an 88-87 victory over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Reese recorded a double-double that night, finishing the game with 25 points and 16 rebounds.

It is obvious that Marsh admires Angel Reese’s game, though it remains to be seen if he can make significant adjustments to her game that will stand to benefit not only herself, but the entire team. If the two can work together as a formidable coach-and-player duo, then the Chicago Sky may very well be back as a championship contender in the upcoming season.
