March Madness is an unpredictable tournament. While powerhouses like the UConn Huskies have plenty of high-caliber talent, underdogs like the NC State Wolfpack can create legendary championship runs that become the hot topic among hoops fans.
However, it’s rare for the men’s and women’s basketball teams from the same university to make a deep run in the tournament. The probability of such a thing happening is low since the tournament has many factors affecting results.
With that being said, the fact that two programs have their men’s and women’s teams in the Final Four of this year’s tournament is a strange sight that won’t likely happen in quite some time.
UConn Huskies, NC State Wolfpack have both teams in the Final Four
Bleacher Report shared a fascinating statistic that would have many basketball fans fascinated with how both teams developed their basketball programs:

Everyone understands that making it to the late rounds of a tough competition with numerous strong teams is an achievement in and of itself. However, to build both the men’s and women’s teams to become competitive is a feat that takes serious dedication.
The players deserve a lot of the credit for this incredible feat. DJ Burns has been nothing but incredible for the NC State Wolfpack, standing out despite a clear lack of three-point shooting. The rest of the squad is also doing their fair share to assist their charming star forward.
For the women, Aziaha Adams takes credit for leading the team with her scoring and duties as the secondary playmaker. Saniya Rivers and Mimi Collins complete the core that’s helped the team make an unlikely but equally inspiring run in the tournament.
Meanwhile, the UConn Huskies have built super teams over the past couple of seasons. Dan Hurley deserves plenty of credit for building a superb team, but Tristen Newton, Cam Spencer, and the rest of the starting lineup are doing plenty of the heavy lifting.
On the women’s side, Paige Bueckers single-handedly brought the team back to relevance. Her all-around performance in the tournament is turning heads and making people realize the potential of women’s basketball.
All four teams have tough opponents in the Final Four, but it’s possible to have UConn vs NC State in both national championships if all four squads manage to play to their full potential.
