Lauri Markkanen is not the only player on the trade rumors lately, as there’s also some uncertainty about Jordan Clarkson’s future with the Utah Jazz if reports are to be believed.
Utah Jazz beat writer Tony Jones of The Athletic hinted that the team is also looking for suitors for their most-tenured player, although offloading him may not be as simple as it sounds.
“It’s going to be really interesting because I think the Jazz are going to try to trade him, but I don’t think they’ll be able to,” Jones said during his interview on The Drive with Spence Checketts on ESPN700.
“You know, [we’ll] see what kinds of money is out there in terms of teams that need a guy with Clarkson’s skill set. I believe he’s at 14 million – his contract looks to be 14 million this summer. So, we’ll see what happens,” he added.
Jordan Clarkson is set to earn roughly $14 million in each of the final two years of his current deal with the Utah Jazz. The former NBA Sixth Man of the Year awardee will be an unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2026 when he turns 34.
Jordan Clarkson for the Utah Jazz in 2023-24
Jordan Clarkson played 55 regular season games in the 2023-24 campaign (19 starts), averaging 17.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. However, he only shot 41.3 percent from the field and made 29.4 percent of his three-point attempts, a career-low.
With Keyonte George, Isaiah Collier, and Collin Sexton in the squad, Jordan Clarkson may be the odd man out, as the Utah Jazz look to develop their young core.
As far as their offseason moves go, the Utah Jazz haven’t done much this summer since Drew Eubanks is their only addition via a two-year contract worth $10 million.
