The Utah Jazz had another forgettable campaign last season as they continue to rebuild in their post-Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert era. A number of players on the squad have established themselves as key pieces for what could be a playoff push in the near future, which only means that the future appears to be taking shape.
One player, however, who no longer seems to figure in Utah’s plans for the years ahead is big man Walker Kessler.
Utah Jazz Rumors: Walker Kessler Placed on Trade Block
According to a report by NBA insider Evan Sidery of Forbes Sports, the Jazz are willing to part ways with the incoming third-year center, who finished third in the Rookie of the Year race in 2023:
“The Jazz are indeed open to trading Walker Kessler. Utah will hold a firm, heavy price for the 7-foot rim protector, but there is significant interest from other teams. Kessler averaged 8.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks this season,” Sidery wrote.
For their part, the Jazz can go in two different directions here. They could either swap Kessler for future assets that will aid them in their rebuilding process, or they could demand a key player who could help them win now.
That’s how valuable Kessler is, which is why the Jazz won’t be letting him go unless they really like what they’re getting in return.
