Victor Wembanyama seems to have a twin in the WNBA, according to a recent article in ‘The Ringer’ by Mark Schindler. Wembanyama is known for his tall and lanky build, which granted him the nickname ‘Alien’. His unique physique has brought about a spectacular force for the Spurs, and French basketball player, Dominique Malonga, seems to mirror the same.
Malonga has been playing for the ASVEL Feminin of the Ligue Feminine de Basketball in France. She also represents the country on the international stage, and is the youngest player in the squad. In fact, Malonga won a silver medal in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
“What if I told you that, two years after Victor Wembanyama’s arrival in the NBA, there’s another French phenom with ridiculous upside who is poised to change basketball?” Mark Schindler wrote in ‘The Ringer’.
Over @ringer
I wrote about the budding starpower of 2025 WNBA Draft prospect Dominique Malonga
She has the potential to not just shake up this draft, but the league as a whole during her careerhttps://t.co/EQstMZ4mbE

In his article, Schindler highlighted Monique’s prowess as a center, quite similar to that of Wembanyama, and also remarked that centers today need to have physiques just the two talented basketball players. While Victor Wembanyama entered the ongoing NBA season with plenty of promise to the team, he is currently ruled out for the season as a result of a life-threatening deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder.

Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs To Lock Horns With Minnesota Timberwolves
On another note, Victor Wembanyama’s team, the San Antonio Spurs, are scheduled to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves this weekend to continue the NBA regular season. However, Wembanyama will not be playing as he is ruled out of the season as a result of a blood clot in his right shoulder.
Without Wembanyama in their squad, the San Antonio Spurs are truly struggling, and have currently dropped down to the 13th position in the Western Conference with 26 wins and 35 defeats on the season.

In their most recent game, the San Antonio Spurs played against the Sacramento Kings and lost, 127-109. Against the Kings, San Antonio’s Stephon Castle led the team on the scoreboard with 25 points, grabbing a pair of rebounds and assisting thrice. De’Aaron Fox was another high-scorer for the team with 16 points, along with four boards and eight helpers, while Harrison Barnes and Keldon Johnson added 12 points and 11 points respectively for the team.

After taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves, the San Antonio Spurs will be on their way to meet the Dallas Mavericks. In their previous meeting with the Timberwolves, the Spurs lost the game, 112-110.
