The Golden State Warriors used to be invincible during the prime years of the triumvirate of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. That is no longer the case. Thompson is no longer with the Dubs, while Curry and Green continue to age in Golden State.
However, the Warriors are off to a great start to the season, having won four of their first five games in the 2024-25 NBA campaign after defeating the New Orleans Pelicans at home Tuesday night to the tune of a 124-106 score.
But before that contest, NBA legend and former league Most Valuable Player Charles Barkley was caught on mic during the NBA on TNT show saying that “Golden State stinks.”
The Warriors entered the Pelicans game with Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and De’Anthony Melton all inactive. Curry is nursing an ankle injury, while Wiggins has a back issue. Melton is also dealing with a back problem.
The banged-up Golden State Warriors stun the New Orleans Pelicans
Despite what Barkley said about the Warriors and all the injuries, Golden State got the job done against the Pels. Buddy Hield led the way for the Dubs with an excellent offensive night, as he dropped 28 points on 9-for-18 shooting from the floor, while also knocking down a total of seven 3-pointers. Lindy Waters III provided a big spark off the bench for Golden State, as he scored 21 points on 8-for-13 shooting while finishing with a plus-26.
The Warriors will look to victimize New Orleans again this Wednesday at home before kicking off a five-game road trip that will begin on Saturday against the Houston Rockets.
