Klay Thompson is back in the Bay Area Wednesday night — but not in a Golden State Warriors uniform. In fact, Thompson is looking to take down the Dubs despite the warm welcome he’s getting in his return to his old NBA residence, with the Dallas Mavericks in San Francisco hoping to end a two-game slide.
This is also an NBA Cup game for both the Warriors and the Mavericks, who are grouped together with the Denver Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans, and Memphis Grizzlies.
Just before what should be an emotional and nostalgic evening for countless Warriors fans, Golden State star forward Draymond Green shared his thoughts on the contest.
"NBA Cup… Klay coming back… real big night." 🏆

Fans have all sorts of reactions to Draymond Green’s comment ahead of Klay Thompson’s Golden State return
Just like Green, fans are also interested and more than intrigued about what would happen in Thompson’s first game at Chase Center in a different uniform.
“This isn’t just about basketball; it’s about legacy, brotherhood, and the beautiful mess that is competitive sports. Klay’s return to the Bay transforms a regular game into a festival of hoops, where every shot, every play, and every moment carries the weight of history,” said an X user.
Another one said: “Klay ain’t loyal but Draymond is”
“Dray about to go extra physical to Klay tonight,” joked another fan.
“I’m super stoked for Klay’s comeback too! 🙌 That’s awesome that Draymond is hyped,” a different social media user posted.
“Will draymond choke out klay you think?” a fan wrote.
