Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr did not name anyone when he commented on how his young players should learn to play alongside Stephen Curry. Sophomore Brandin Podziemski, who was expected to have a breakout season, had to post something anyway.
The Dubs triumphantly rose from a 51-point beat down by the Memphis Grizzlies by beating the Minnesota Timberwolves through the heroics of Curry who hit two clutch 3-point shots to seal the game.
Kerr commended his star player and emphasized how everyone should move or play around him.
“It’s important for our young players to understand we don’t need contested 17 footers with 12 on the clock. That’s a bad shot…when you have Steph Curry on your team, pass the ball,” he told reporters.
The young Warriors were actually effective in the game, led by Trayce Jackson-Davis who had 15 point and 9 rebounds as the starting center with Draymond Green out.
Podziemski was efficient, too, with 12 points on 2 out of 3 from the three-point line.
Brandin Podziemski clarifies comments on Stephen Curry
Podziemski was the one who was asked about Kerr’s comments. His first comments were somewhat misinterpreted as a shot at Curry.
“I don’t really think. I just play, when I’m out there and I’m open, I shoot it,” he said.
Some fans did not receive his message well and so, he had to make clarifications on X through a long message.
He clarified that he is not playing without thinking. Instead, he refuse to overthink since he is already playing with someone like Curry who he considers as a GOAT.
On the court you have to be cautious against over thinking every possession. You have to trust your work, do what the coaches want you to do, and make a good IQ play. At times that’s a pass, taking shot, or even making a good screen to free up a teammate.
