Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors are on a late-season roll once again. Friday night at home in the Bay, the Warriors put their four-game winning streak on the line as they welcomed the Denver Nuggets. The result was another vintage day from Curry, who outshone MVP-candidate Nikola Jokic, and with the help of Jimmy Butler, gave the Warriors a 118-104 win. The Dubs have now won three straight games against Western Conference foes that currently sit ahead of them in the standings in a massive declaration of their ability to be a dark horse in the chase for the Western Conference crown.
Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler Partnership Continues to Be Historically Good
When the Jimmy Butler trade saga finally ended and resulted in the disgruntled star being sent to the west coast, many NBA fans understandably paid it less attention than it deserved due to an even more significant move happening in the Western Conference, aka Luka Dončić teaming up with LeBron James in Los Angeles. However, it’s impossible to ignore the Golden State Warriors now.

Since the Butler deal, the Warriors are 20-2 when both he and Curry are available. Curry missed a few games due to a minor injury suffered against Toronto, but outside of two big losses in his absence, the team has been on an absolute tear since getting Butler.
Friday night, the Warriors took on the Denver Nuggets. The Dubs were coming off a massive win over the Memphis Grizzlies, in which Curry had 12 threes and scored 52 points, and a primetime win over the Lakers, where Curry’s 37 and a good day from the bench was enough to get it done. However, against Nikola Jokic, the team needed to find a new level.

Golden State Warriors Defeat Denver Nuggets Behind Curry, Butler, and A Strong Defensive Effort
A new level was indeed found. Curry continued his yearly April explosion with 36 points on over 50% from the floor and 7 made triples. Meanwhile, Butler had a hard-nosed 19 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals. The team was +21 when Butler was on the court, giving him the best plus/minus of any player on the court.

The Warriors stars played extremely well on offense, but the story of the night was defense. Although Jokic had 33-12-9, the Dubs forced 25 Nugget turnovers, with 14 of them being steals. Brandin Podziemski continued his hot form, scoring 26 points and adding 8 boards and 6 dimes. Golden State has now beaten three straight Western Conference giants and are reminding teams that they are a force to be reckoned with.

Fans React
Anyone who wasn’t taking Golden State seriously a few months ago are now eating their words, as Steve Kerr’s crew are once again making a late-season push and looking like they belong in the conversation of the league’s top contenders.

The Warriors get three wins in four nights over the three teams above them in the standings: at Grizzlies, at Lakers, vs Nuggets. Steph Curry went for 52, 37, 36 points. Homecourt possible.
