Stephen Curry returned to the lineup for the Golden State Warriors to lead the team past the Washington Wizards, 125-112, on Monday. Curry missed the last three games for the Warriors as he dealt with an ankle injury he sustained in their game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 27.
Curry led the team with a season-high 24 points. The four-time champion shot 4-for-9 from the three and had six assists on the night. Draymond Green added 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists behind an efficient 75% shooting night from deep.
Following their win, the Warriors star said in an interview that he felt good, despite only playing 24 minutes to monitor his recent ankle injury.
“I feel good,” Curry said. “Our medical team, everybody makes sure I’m bulletproof before I come back. Obviously, a little minutes restriction just to make sure. It’s nice to be back out there with my guys, they’ve taken care of business the last three games in pretty solid fashion. I didn’t want to be the weak link out there tonight, try to come out and do my part.”
“We’re vibing right now, we’re trying to continue to get better, we know we have a long way to go,” the Warriors star said. “I think we’ve really established an identity defensively.”

Curry and the Warriors have now won four straight games. During his absence, the team relied heavily on veteran forward Buddy Hield. The new team member averaged 25.3 points, 3.3 and 2.0 assists during the three-game stretch. Hield made 51% of his 3-point attempts, demonstrating his ability to shoot the ball from a distance.
Stephen Curry’s buzzer-beater over Jordan Poole went viral
The game between the Warriors and Wizards was a must-see. It’s the first game between Golden State and its former player, Jordan Poole. During the first half, it was action-packed, including Stephen Curry’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer over his former teammate.
Curry found an open space in the right corner and received the pass from Draymond Green. The star did a shot-fake, making his primary defender, Bilal Coulibaly, jump to contest the shot. Poole saw that the 10-time All-Star was open and rushed to contest the shot.
Unfortunately, he was too late and Curry made the shot, beating the game clock to end the second quarter.

To add insult to injury, Green pointed at Poole after Stephen Curry made the shot. Earlier in the game, the Wizards guard made a 3-pointer over the 2016-17 Defensive Player of the Year. After he made the shot, he pointed at his ex-teammate.
The next matchup between the two will be on Jan. 18, 2025.
