The Golden State Warriors have the best record in the Western Conference, and that’s despite the fact that second-year guard Brandin Podziemski is having big issues with his offense.
The former Santa Clara Broncos star is going through what many would call a “sophomore slump,” as he is only shooting 36.8 percent from the floor in the 2024-25 NBA regular season. He is also knocking down only 20.8 percent of his attempts from behind the arc.
Steve Kerr sounds off about Warriors player’s shooting slump
Of course, Podziemski can find his mark soon. Either way, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr showed confidence in Podziemski when he spoke about the player’s shooting struggles following last Monday’s 102-99 loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers at Intuit Dome in Inglewood.
Via Anthony Slater of The Athletic:
“He’s not shooting the ball with much confidence right now,” Kerr said. “That’s obvious. It’s part of being in the NBA. Everyone goes through stretches where you don’t quite feel it. The way he shot it at the end of last year, all summer, watching him in camp, he’s a really good shooter. He’ll find it.”
Against the Clippers, the 21-year-old Podziemski missed all his four attempts from the field and 1-for-3 from the free-throw line. He followed that up with a 1-for-6 shooting from the floor in a 120-97 win on Wednesday over the Atlanta Hawks.
It remains to be seen when Podziemski will find his shot, and it could come as soon as this Friday when the Warriors play against the banged-up New Orleans Pelicans on Friday at Smoothie King Center.
