Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry played just 24 minutes in loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers last Friday but against the Oklahoma City Thunder, his playing time needed to be stretched to 36.
Head coach Steve Kerr is being careful with Curry’s minutes as the two-time MVP is coming off an injury. However, OKC forced his hand to put his star player in the game for more minutes.
It would have been an easy night for Curry. He was taken out in the game earlier after they were able to build a huge 31-point lead. But the Thunder is at the top of the standings for a reason.
“Steph was incredible. He was pulling defenders with him, that opened up the whole offense. He did a great job of coming back in and closing”

“It looked like it was going to be a night where we can keep him under 30 minutes again and then OKC made big run to start the fourth and Steph did a great job of coming back in closing when things started getting dicey.”

Chef Curry cooked the Thunder, scoring 36 points on 7/13 shooting from the three point line. Most of these points came in the third quarter when he poured in 17 points, almost outscoring their hosts.
He did it while getting double, triple-teamed.

His most crucial play happened with 1:12 left in the fourth quarter after the Thunder melted the 31-point lead to 7.
His shot stretched the lead to 10 points and called it a “night night” in front of OKC fans.
The Warriors overtook the Thunder in the Western Conference standings as the new no. 2 with an 8-2 record. Next on their schedule are the Dallas Mavericks featuring their former player Klay Thompson and the Memphis Grizzlies.
