The Washington Wizards recently announced that Corey Kispert will no longer play the rest of the 2024-25 campaign after undergoing a procedure to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb.

The former No. 15 overall pick hurt his thumb during the third period of the Washington Wizards’ 126-123 win over the Denver Nuggets last Saturday. Kispert sat out during their 112-97 loss against the Portland Trail Blazers last Monday.
“INJURY UPDATE: Guard-forward Corey Kispert underwent a successful surgical procedure today in New York City to repair a ligament tear to his left thumb. The injury was sustained in the third quarter against the Denver Nuggets on March 15,” wrote the Washington Wizards’ PR X (formerly known as Twitter) account.

“Kispert is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of next season.”
More playing time for the Washington Wizards’ youngsters
Corey Kispert was one of the key bench players for the Washington Wizards this season, averaging 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists on 45/36/85 shooting splits across 61 appearances.

With Kispert ruled out, Kyshawn George and Justin Champagnie should continue to see increasing playing time as the regular season winds down.
George has started in each of his last 23 games, averaging 10.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. However, he is questionable against the Utah Jazz due to a knee injury.
