The Washington Wizards will look to add more veterans to their young locker room, and they are reportedly eyeing Evan Fournier as their latest free agent acquisition, per NBA insider Marc Stein.
Evan Fournier is a free agent after the Detroit Pistons decided not to pick up his option for next season. The 31-year-old also received interest from teams around Europe, but staying in the NBA is his goal.
In 2023-24, Evan Fournier played only three games for the New York Knicks before he was moved to the Detroit Pistons via trade, which saw him, Ryan Arcidiacono, Quentin Grimes, and Malachi Flynn (along with two second-round picks and cash) go to the Motor City in exchange for Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks.
In 29 games with the Detroit Pistons, Evan Fournier averaged 7.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on 37.3 percent shooting from the floor and 27 percent from three-point range in 18.7 minutes per game.
With the Paris Olympics on the horizon, Evan Fournier will get his chance to prove his worth to NBA teams, including the Washington Wizards, why he’s worthy of a new contract when he plays for France.
Washington Wizards officially add another shooter in Saddiq Bey
Before the reported interest in Evan Fournier, the Washington Wizards brought in Saddiq Bey on a three-year, $20 million deal on Wednesday. He is the Washington Wizards’ third new addition this summer after Jonas Valanciunas and Malcolm Brogdon.
Bey played for the Atlanta Hawks last season, averaging 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game on 41.6 percent shooting from the field in 63 regular season games (51 starts).
However, because of his ACL injury, Saddiq Bey could spend most of the 2024-25 season in the medical room which is probably why the Washington Wizards have been keeping tabs on Evan Fournier.
