Stephen A. Smith doesn’t like it when his job is being criticized, not by NBA followers, but by NBA player themselves. It would not be a stretch if he comes after Jordan Poole again after the Washington Wizards dropped a two-word description on his ‘analysis’.
Poole made headlines again this week for becoming a Shaqtin A Fool candidate with this taunt against Payton Pritchard after semi-completing his ankle breaker on the Boston Celtics guard.
The Wizards guard crossed Pritchard but because he chose to point at his defender instead of shooting, the crossover was not completed. He was not able to take the shot and passed it instead. Wizards lost the game, too.
The one-time champ became a subject of internet ridicule because of that and Smith was automatically among them.
What does Poole think of the ESPN host’s take? He’s not too bothered by it.
“I don’t even be watching him. That’s just barber shop talk to me,” he told a reporter when asked about the SAS segment who slammed him for such play.
The Wizards are currently the worst team in the league with just four victories.
They recently won against the Charlotte Hornets, with Poole scoring 27 points.
What did SAS say about Jordan Poole?
Smith’s firebrand type of commentary was very much present when he criticized Poole.
He went off on how the 25-year-old lost his spot in the Golden State Warriors.
We all know he caused a little trouble in Golden State. We know how Draymond responded to that, and ultimately how he couldn’t stay there any longer. So he gets moved… Gone from a champion [Warriors] to a team that since he has arrived… 70 games under .500 but you showboated. That’s why his a** is in the nation’s capital. And they’re doing how they’re doing.
Smith is not the type to allow himself and his job to be belittled.
Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant once called him a clown and a person who hasn’t touched a basketball for his commentaries against him and Smith did not waste time to formulate a response.
He said the media like him is not going anywhere. Even suggested that he will be here no matter what.
