WNBA news: Basketball fans are gearing up for what should be a very entertaining WNBA All-Star Weekend. The stars will be out in Phoenix as the biggest names in the league take center stage in a two-day event that will be headlined by an exhibition contest between Team WNBA and the U.S. Women’s National Team.
A Skills Challenge and a 3-Point Contest will also take place on Friday. The participants for the highly-anticipated contests were announced on Wednesday, and for the most part, it did not sit well with more than a few WNBA fans.
WNBA News: Caitlin Clark Will Not Take Part in 3-Point Contest
The league is currently facing major backlash after it decided to omit the biggest name in the WNBA today. This comes in the form of rookie sensation Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, who for some reason, will not take part in the upcoming 3-Point Contest.

For what it’s worth, Clark is currently averaging 33.2 percent from deep on 8.3 attempts per game. Her 2.8 triples per game ranks fourth in the entire league.
A lot of supporters were looking forward to seeing Clark light it up in the 3-point competition, and they just had to air their frustration on X, formerly Twitter, after learning about the league’s announcement.

No CC means I’m not watching

Not having Catlin nor Sabrina is why I can’t take this league seriously 🤦🏾♂️

Sabrina? Caitlin? That’s some of the best 3 ball shooters…you can’t complain about viewership and then do this
— ommy (@kilakalajr) July 18, 2024
There’s a lot more where that came from, but you get the gist.
Granted that Clark is not the most efficient shooter from beyond the arc out there, but it’s just hard to justify why the WNBA would pass on the opportunity to boost their ratings by having one of the most popular athletes on the planet take part in the festivities.
To be fair, Clark will be in the All-Star Game on Saturday, but that’s a different matter altogether.
