Unlike past years, the WNBA Rookie of the Year race this season between Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese is shaping up to be an exciting one. For a panel composed by AP, though, that race is turning in favor of the former Iowa Hawkeyes star.
Clark, the Iowa Hawkeyes phenom, has already etched her name in the history books by recording the first-ever rookie triple-double in WNBA history. Her ability to stuff the stat sheet with points, assists, and rebounds has been a sight to behold, showcasing the well-rounded skillset that has made her one of the most electrifying players in the league.

Not to be outdone, Reese has been a force of nature for the Chicago Sky. The LSU Tigers product has broken Candace Parker’s record for most consecutive games with a double-double, a testament to her relentless motor and dominant interior presence. Reese’s combination of size, strength, and finesse has made her a nightmare matchup for opposing defenses.
As the season reaches its crescendo, the battle between Clark and Reese for the Rookie of the Year award is poised to be a captivating narrative. Fans and pundits alike eagerly await to see which young phenom will emerge victorious, with both players determined to leave an indelible mark on the WNBA’s future.
AP Voters Drop Real Status of Rookie of the Year Race Between Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese

Just recently, an AP panel composed of 15 members voted who is leading in the WNBA ROTY race. The result of that vote is seen in an article by Doug Feinberg for AP.
But at the halfway point, the 15-member panel gives the edge to Clark in a 9-5 vote. One person didn’t vote.
“Today, I would say Clark, only because they have one more win overall as a team and have a 2-1 lead head-to-head,” said voter Christy Winters-Scott, a basketball analyst for the Mystics. “Clearly this could change as the WNBA season progresses. It has been a complete joy for me to witness how both players have evolved as professionals in such a short amount of time in the league.”
This season, Clark is averaging 16.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 7.6 assists, and 1.5 steals over the course of 23 games. Just like Reese, the Indiana star has also been named to her first All-Star Game in her first year in the league.

While Clark is leading at this point in time, anything can still change, especially if Reese surpasses her current performance for Chicago. If that happens, the ROTY race will become more interesting and exciting.
