The WNBA All-Star Game is fast approaching and Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark is a heavy-favorite to play in the event. The thing is, she might just share the court with Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese, a player whom the public has pitted against the former Iowa Hawkeyes guard.
Just recently, the WNBA experienced a surge in popularity, much like the NBA did in the 1970s. The arrival of two young stars, Reese and Clark, has drawn comparisons to the iconic rivalry between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird in the 1980s.

Both female hoopers have become household names, captivating fans with their talent, charisma, and on-court rivalry. Their matchup in the 2023 NCAA championship game broke viewership records, and their head-to-head battles in the WNBA have continued to generate excitement.
Like Magic and Bird, the two stars possess different playing styles and personalities, but their impact on the game can be readily felt. Reese, with her fiery competitiveness and trash-talking, has emerged as a polarizing figure, while Clark’s scoring prowess and infectious energy have made her a fan favorite.
The parallels between the two rivalries extend beyond the court. Both have the potential to drive increased viewership and higher salaries for WNBA players, as the league looks to capitalize on the growing interest in women’s basketball.
Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark Gets Real About Playing With Chicago Sky Rookie Angel Reese For WNBA All-Star Game

In just a couple of weeks, the WNBA All-Star will be held at the Footprint Center in Phoenix. Both Clark and Reese are projected to participate in the main event, and even possibly as teammates. In a video shared by Matthew Byrne on X, the Indiana Fever rookie spoke about potentially playing with the Chicago star soon.
Caitlin Clark on being an All-Star with Angel Reese: “I don’t think I’ve ever been her teammate before, even with USA Basketball or anything like that. So, I know people are going to be really excited about it, but I hope it doesn’t take away from everybody else.”

This season, Clark has averaged 16.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in 21 games. Reese, for her part, has posted 13.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in the 18 games she played in her first year in the league. As seen in those numbers, both players have notched sufficient performances to make them deserving of a spot in the All-Star Game.

It remains to be seen what the final lineup will be when the WNBA All-Star Game occurs later this month. In any case, it’d be intriguing to see the two rivals play on one team even just for one night.
