For the past few months, one of the primary storylines in the WNBA is the Rookie of the Year race between Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese. For Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe, two of the league’s legends, their bet is on the former Iowa Hawkeyes star to come out on top.
The 2024 season has seen the rise of two exceptional rookies, Clark and Reese, who have captivated fans with their outstanding performances. Clark, playing for the Indiana Fever, has emerged as the clear favorite for the Rookie of the Year award. Despite the Chicago star making a strong case with her historic double-double streak and leading the league in rebounds per game, she remains at second.
Both players were named WNBA All-Stars, showcasing their talent on the national stage. While Reese’s Sky have not yet seen the same level of improvement as the Fever, Clark’s impact on her team’s success has been undeniable. The Fever, who finished the 2023 season at 13-27, are now on pace to significantly improve their record, thanks in large part to Clark’s exceptional play.
Despite their impressive performances, neither Clark nor Reese were selected to the 2024 Paris Olympics team, much to the dismay of some fans. Nonetheless, the league continues to be the stage where these young stars shine, with Clark cementing her status as the frontrunner for the prestigious Rookie of the Year honor.

It remains to be seen whether Clark can stay ahead in the ROTY race or Reese finds a way to get the lead. Nevertheless, it’s going to be an interesting couple of months for both WNBA stars down the line.
