While Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is the more popular rookie in the WNBA right now, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese is pretty close behind. Proof of her emerging popularity was when NFL star Cam Newton posted an impersonation of her, causing the video to trend online.
Before she entered the WNBA, Reese had an impressive high school and college career before turning pro. At Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, Reese was a four-year varsity player and a McDonald’s All-American in 2020. She initially played for the Maryland Terrapins, but transferred to LSU for her junior and senior seasons.

At LSU, Reese led the team to its first-ever national championship in 2023, earning the Most Outstanding Player award. She set the NCAA single-season record for double-doubles and the SEC single-season record for rebounds.
As a professional, Reese had a standout rookie season with the Chicago Sky after she was selected using the seventh pick in the 2024 Draft. She also earned her first All-Star selection. She is known for her dominant inside presence, averaging a double-double throughout her college career and as a pro.
Cam Newton’s Hilarious Impersonation of WNBA Star Angel Reese Goes Viral

Just recently, Reese called out several individuals online after they asked the Chicago Sky rookie to fly them out to her games. This was the basis of Newton’s impersonation attempt, as seen in a video shared by LANI on X.

This season, Reese is averaging a double-double of 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. She has also broken WNBA legend Candace Parker’s old record of making the most consecutive double-doubles in a season by making 15 of them.

Newton’s impersonation of the Chicago rookie is proof that Reese is getting more popular by the day. If she keeps this up, the former LSU Tigers star is going to be one of the faces of the league down the line.
