While Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are getting most of the attention in the NBA these days, there’s a case to be made for Los Angeles Sparks rookie Cameron Brink. Seeing her potential as a star, Los Angeles Clippers wing Paul George gifted her with an insanely cool new nickname to go along with her game.
Brink first entered the scene as a freshman for Stanford during the 2020-21 NCAA season. During that period, the rookie helped her team win their first championship since 1992. For her effort, Brink was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team.
Over the years, Brink evolved into Stanford’s number one option. In her last year as a college star, the 6’4″ forward notched 17.4 points on 51 percent shooting from the field, 11.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 3.7 blocks per game. Furthermore, she was named Pac-12 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in final run in college.
After her four-year run with Stanford, Brink declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft and was selected by the Los Angeles Sparks using the second overall pick. In the two games she has played for L.A, the rookie has already set averages of 7.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 3.5 blocks per game.

Although the season is still young for Brink, she still has a bright future ahead of her. Among those who recognize her potential is Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George and how she has given the rookie an awesome nickname to use. In a video clip shared by George’s podcast on X:

As it stands, Brink has a chance to solidify herself as the Sparks’ future in the WNBA. Even though they have lost their first two games of the season, her potential to be a dominant two-way forward in the league and her development towards that goal will greatly help Los Angeles in the long run.
Even with Clark and Reese getting all the spotlight, there’s a chance Brink can catch up and show her worth on the court. And with George’s new nickname for her, that won’t be a hard thing for the rookie down the line.
