Despite possessing insane athleticism, Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James has refused to join the All-Star Slam Dunk contest throughout his NBA career. This point of criticism is now being applied by sports analyst Skip Bayless to Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark‘s refusal to play in the WNBA All-Star Game’s 3-Point Contest recently.
The Indiana Fever rookie has surprised fans with her decision to skip the 3-point shooting contest ahead of the WNBA All-Star Game. While Clark is currently tied for third place in made 3-point field goals, she explained that she opted for rest due to her continuous basketball commitments.

With a hectic schedule that included the Iowa Hawkeyes’ basketball season, the draft, and the start of the latest season, Clark expressed the need for a break and personal time. Shooting off a rack in a contest is something she has never done before and hasn’t had sufficient practice for.
Despite being left off the Olympic roster, Clark will participate in the All-Star Game against the women’s Olympic basketball team before the Fever’s return to the court in August.
Skip Bayless Compares Caitlin Clark to LeBron James After WNBA Star Refused to Join 3-Point Contest

After Clark made her decision not to play in the 3-point contest known, various takes were given by critics online. Among them is Undisputed host Skip Bayless, as seen in a tweet he posted on his official X account.
“Surprised & disappointed Caitlin Clark didn’t participate in last night’s 3-Point Contest. She is the “Steph Curry of women’s basketball.” But she said she has played for a year straight and that it’s hard to just show up and shoot off a rack. LeBronesque w the Dunk Contest,” Bayless tweeted.
Over a year ago, James explained his absence from the NBA Slam Dunk Contest by saying he prioritized team success and individual accolades. The Los Angeles Lakers star also said that the Slam Dunk Contest was never a personal goal for him.

While it’s certain James won’t play in the Slam Dunk contest anymore, there’s still a chance for Clark to shoot the lights out in the future. If she does, critics like Bayless won’t get to use the LeBron card anymore on the Fever rookie.
