Minnesota Timberwolves star Rudy Gobert is not an American but he is endorsing Robert Kennedy Jr. to become the next chief of Department of Health and Human Services.

This is not the first time that NBA meets US politics but this one is garnering extra attention for many reasons.
This endorsement by the French center garnered unnecessary attention from many fans. Not because he should not be talking American politics since he is not from America but because they found the endorsement ‘on brand.’
RKJ is a handpicked choice for by president-elect Donald Trump Jr to manage the health department, a decision many health experts disapprove.
This is because the man is an anti-vaccine activist and a conspiracy theorist. He thinks vaccine causes autism to children which he compared to holocaust.
Gobert is great in defending the rim but he is no expert in health and this is why many found it laughable that he is supporting RKJ. After all, he starred in one of the dumbest display of Covid-19 ignorance before the world shutdown.
The NBA 2020 season was eventually shutdown, too, and was forced to be played in the Bubble in 2021.
Rudy Gobert’s Covid-19 fiasco and ignorance
Then part of the Utah Jazz, Gobert tested positive for Covid-19 in January 2020. The league was shut down two months after and although he should not be blamed for it, his actions before the temporary shelving of the league cannot be overlooked.
He playfully played with the microphones during a press conference to the dismay of many health experts and NBA fans who believe in the threat of Covid.
Gobert already apologized for his joke.
It came from a good intention. It was the first day that we found out that the media was not going to be able to interview us, right next to us, and, you know, we obviously didn’t know as much as we know now, and I only did that to try to liven the mood a little bit.
It was, of course, if I could go back in time, I wouldn’t do it.
