The Boston Celtics were supposed to steamroll the Cleveland Cavaliers in their East Semis matchup. This certainly looked to be the case after the Celtics destroyed the Cavs in Game 1 on Tuesday, 120-95.
The series resumed on Thursday for Game 2 in Boston and apparently, Donovan Mitchell and Co. didn’t get the script. They completely flipped the switch on the Celtics by blowing them out at the TD Garden, 118-94.
1-1.
Cleveland Cavaliers News: Donovan Mitchell Sounds Off on Game 2 Win
Mitchell is not, by any means, resting on his laurels. After leading the way for Cleveland with a massive 29-point performance in Game 2, the five-time All-Star was quick to play down their 24-point victory on Thursday night:
“This game means nothing if we don’t take care of homecourt,” he said. “… Series doesn’t start until someone wins on the road and we did that. Now we gotta go protect homecourt. Simple as that.”

This series is now headed to Cleveland but as Mitchell said, their stunning Game 2 victory will be all for nothing if they don’t win Games 3 and 4 at home. Despite having their backs against the wall, the Celtics are still an extremely dangerous team, and you can be sure that they will be out for some revenge come Game 3 on Saturday.
Mitchell and the Cavs, however, will be ready.
