Star big man Anthony Davis has Los Angeles Lakers fans worried about his health – again. Davis hurt his eye during Sunday night’s marquee matchup at home versus the Golden State Warriors in the first quarter. He was able to initially play through it initially before getting ruled out at halftime.
Anthony Davis Injury Has Worrisome Update After Los Angeles Lakers Loss To Warriors
According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, sources said that Davis’ vision was not right, forcing the Lakers to keep him out for the rest of the contest.
“Anthony Davis’ vision was impaired and his eye was swollen shut after the contact, a source familiar with the injury told ESPN. Davis will be monitored overnight and Sunday to determine his availability Monday against Atlanta”
The Lakers can’t afford Davis to be out for a long time, considering that their loss to the Warriors relegated them to the 10th place in the Western Conference division. The Los Angeles Lakers are carrying a 36-32 record, just 3.5 games inside of the Play-in Tournament cut with just 14 games remaining on their regular-season schedule.
On a two-game losing skid, the Lakers will play the Atlanta Hawks at home this Monday. Hopefully for them, Davis will turn out to be just fine and be able to see action versus Dejounte Murray and company./
But if Davis gets ruled out for at least the Atlanta game, Jaxson Hayes can be expected to step up and play heavy minutes at the center slot, especially if Christian Woods gets ruled out again as well.
