It has been a forgettable 2023-24 NBA season for Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant, but it’s not without flavor either. Adding spice to his season, albeit coming off the court, this late in the campaign is an alleged shot from Drake, who dropped a surprise diss track on Saturday that targeted a number of personalities, including the former No. 2 overall pick.
Drake Takes Aim at Memphis Grizzlies Star Ja Morant
In the said track, titled Push Ups (Drop & Give Me Fifty), the God’s Plan singer lowered the boom on his rap adversaries Kendrick Lamar, Future, Metro Boomin, and the Weeknd. Even Morant did not escape the lyrical wrath of the Canadian rapper, as he dropped the following bars:
Ayy, shoutout to the hooper that be bustin’ out the griddy
We know why you mad, n***a, I ain’t even trippin’
All that lil’ heartbroken Twitter shit for b*****s
Here’s a helpful background from Genius annotations explaining Drizzy’s beef with Morant.
Drake talks about known Memphis NBA Player “Ja Morant”, known for doing a dance named “The Griddy” and known for being suspended multiple times for gun showcases and more.
Ja Morant responded to Metro Boomin’s tweet regarding his and Future’s new album, WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU, which was full of subliminals at Drake, supporting the album.
Injuries and a lengthy suspension to start the 2023-24 NBA campaign held Morant to just nine games played. In those nine games, the Grizzlies went 6-3.
