Anthony Edwards has been the driving force for the Minnesota Timberwolves in what has without a doubt been their most successful campaign in recent memory — at least up until this point.
Minnesota’s rise has been directly proportional to Edwards developing into one of the top young superstars in the NBA today. If you ask him, though, he’s barely scratched the surface.
Minnesota Timberwolves Star Anthony Edwards Has a Long Way to Go
Speaking on a recent interview with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks, Edwards revealed that he firmly believes he’s just getting started. When asked to rate himself in terms of how far away he is from his ceiling, the Wolves star dropped an unexpected response that should terrify the rest of the NBA:
“I’m like a 5 (out of 10) right now,” he said. “… Kevin Durant is my favorite player. He shoots the ball the same way every time. It takes years to get to that.
“A lot of people think I’m super good right now. I don’t even know how much better I can get.”

Edwards is in the midst of his best season as a pro. He’s averaging 26.6 points on 46.7 percent shooting, to go along with 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals, while also knocking down 2.5 triples per game on a 37.0-percent clip. He’s led Minnesota to a 47-22 record for the third spot in the Western Conference.
If what is saying about his ceiling is true, then Edwards expects to double his current level of play in the near future. Now that’s scary.
