It has been over a day since the Philadelphia 76ers pulled off one of the most stunning comeback wins in the history of the NBA Playoffs when they stunned the New York Knicks in a 112-106 overtime win in Game 5.
It is still the talk of the town, especially after the NBA released its Last Two-Minute Report for that game, which revealed that Game 5 Sixers hero Tyrese Maxey should have been called a travel during the sequence that led to his huge 4-point play with just 25.1 points remaining in regulation.
Thanks to the non-call, Maxey managed to drain a 3-pointer and make the free throw to cut down the Knicks lead to just two points. After Josh Hart made one of two free throws in the next New York possession, Maxey drained another 3-pointer to send the game to overtime, where Philadelphia finished the job.
Social Media Reactions to Tyrese Maxey’s ‘Travel’
From Pat Gallen of CBS3 Philadelphia: “The NBA is HILARIOUS to say that this travel should have been called on Maxey’s 4 point play. If this is a travel, then every single play in the NBA is a walk. (Also, they buried the lede — Brunson should have been called for an offensive foul on the Embiid Flagrant 1.)”
“NBA says Maxey should have been called for a travel, so I guess the Knicks & Sixers are now even after Game 2 😭 They also said there should have been time left on the clock (0.4) after Brunson’s shot was blocked. I remember being surprised there wasn’t,” posted @KnicksMemes.
“When are the Knicks filing a grievance?” asked @mbh2697.
“Ahh yes. They should have called a travel on Maxey, cause they are notoriously strict on calling travels in the NBA…Be serious please,” said @THEmj_naval.
