The 2024 national championship game between the UConn Huskies and the Purdue Boilermakers isn’t exactly a David vs. Goliath affair. This is going to be two Goliaths with slingshots going at each other.
On one hand, there’s the Huskies, who have simply been unstoppable in the 2023-24 college basketball season. They are winning in double-digit margins in the Big Dance. In their last game, they pummeled the Alabama Crimson Tide, 86-72. That 14-point lead signifies the closest a team has gotten to beating the UConn Huskies in the tourney.
The Purdue Boilermakers, on the other hand, have also been just as scary, with big man Zach Edey spearheading the team’s attack. The Boilermakers are fresh off a 63-50 manhandling of DJ Burns and the NC State Wolfpack in the Final Four round to move just a win away from successfully winning the national title a year after they got embarrassed in the first round of the 2023 edition of March Madness as a No. 1 seed.

UConn Huskies & Purdue Boilermakers Both Enter National Championship Game With Perfect ATS Records

The Huskies and the Boilermakers are not just winning in the Big Dance; they are also making people who bet against their respective spreads pay — literally and figuratively.
Via Evan Abrams of the Action Network:
+ UConn: 5-0 ATS
+ Purdue: 5-0 ATSThis is the first National Championship where both teams are 5-0 ATS or better in the dance entering the title game

The Huskies are favored to win against Purdue this Monday, but not by much. UConn is the favorite to win by at least 6.5 points. However, the Boilermakers can’t just be simply slept on, considering how dominant they have looked all season long, and also because of the presence of Edey, who is averaging 28.0 points, 15.4 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game in the tournament.
