Indiana Pacers superstar Tyrese Haliburton had it going again on Monday night as he led his team to a lopsided win over the Los Angeles Clippers at the Crypto.com Arena, 133-116.
The two-time All-Star scored 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while also connecting on six out of his nine attempts from deep in the blowout win. Haliburton added nine assists and two steals to round out another impressive performance as the Pacers logged their third win in their last four games.
Indiana Pacers Star Tyrese Haliburton Is Counting His Blessings
At this point, it’s safe to say that Haliburton has gotten out of his recent career-worst shooting slump. The 24-year-old has been shooting at a 53.6 percent clip in the last four games, which obviously has had a significant impact on Indiana’s recent surge.
After Monday’s win, Haliburton was asked how he got through his slump, and it prompted a bit of an emotional response from the Pacers star:
“I think at the end of the day, it’s just self-reflection, understanding where I am and all the things that I’ve done,” Haliburton said of finding joy during his struggles, via Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints. “I look around and just the basic thing of like my house. I grew up in a house that was barely 1,000 square feet. I’m blessed to be in this position, so just having a good use of that.”
You love to hear it. It’s great that this young man has been able to keep his feet on the ground despite the dizzying heights he’s reached at this point in his career.
According to Haliburton, it’s his love for the game that has allowed him to arrive at where he is right now:
“I just have fun playing basketball,” he said. “I think I’m at my best when it’s that way. When sh*t gets bad, I just gotta stay there. When I’m having fun, I feel like I’m at my best and our team is at our best. I think it comes from my pops.”
