A shorthanded Milwaukee Bucks side did all they could against the mighty Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. Giannis Antetokounmpo was unable to suit up due to a lingering hamstring injury, which meant that most of the burden would fall on the able shoulders of Damian Lillard.
Dame did his bit by going off again for a game-high 32 points on 11-of-21 shooting. It just wasn’t enough, though, as the red-hot Celtics marked their 18th win in the last 20 games. Once again, Boston prevailed in this instant classic, 122-119.
Boston Celtics Star Jayson Tatum Sounds Off on Victory
Jayson Tatum was a man on a mission for Boston in this one. The five-time All-Star matched Lillard stride for stride. Tatum finished with 31 points himself on 9-of-19 from the floor, to go along with eight rebounds, four assists, three steals, two blocks, and four triples in 39 minutes of action.
After the game, Tatum sounded off on another marquee win for the league-best Celtics as he shed light on the mentality his team has taken on amid this torrid run:
“I like the way that we’re trending,” he said. “We’re just really focused on getting better every single day. We’re not skipping steps, we’re not looking towards past anybody, we’re not looking to the Playoffs. We’ve got a game on Friday against Detroit. That’s the mindset that we gotta have.”
Jayson Tatum after the game today:
“I like the way that we’re trending. We just focus on getting better every single day. We’re not skipping steps [like last year], we’re not looking to the playoffs. That’s the mindset that we gotta have.”

It’s hard not to look at the big picture for Celtics supporters, though, especially after their team just took down one of the biggest threats in the conference on Wednesday night. The championship expectations for this side are skyrocketing, but Tatum just wants to make sure that they all keep their feet on the ground.
