Wednesday night will feature the top two teams in the Eastern Conference battling it out for supremacy. Unfortunately for the Milwaukee Bucks, they will be without their best player after Giannis Antetokounmpo was officially ruled out for their highly-anticipated clash against the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden.
It goes without saying that Milwaukee will be at a real disadvantage with the former back-to-back MVP sidelined with an injury.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Ruled Out Vs. Celtics
Giannis sat out on Sunday in the Bucks’ big win over the Phoenix Suns, and he was questionable heading into Wednesday’s contest. The eight-time All-Star has been dealing with a hamstring injury, which as it turns out, was significant enough to force him to sit out one of Milwaukee’s biggest games of the season.
It is worth noting that the Bucks play again on Thursday in a back-to-back set against the Brooklyn Nets. Antetokounmpo’s status for that one is currently up in the air.
With Giannis out, the Bucks will have no other choice but to rely on Damian Lillard to carry them against the Celtics. Dame is coming off a massive 31-point, 16-assist performance in Sunday’s win against Kevin Durant and Co., and he will likely need to come up big yet again on Wednesday to give the Bucks a chance against the mighty Celtics.
Khris Middleton will play in his second game back after a lengthy layoff, and he too will need to be on his game in this one. There will also be more shots available for Bobby Portis, who exploded for 31 points against Phoenix on Sunday.
The Bucks head into Wednesday’s showdown 10 games behind the league-best Celtics.
