The Boston Celtics officially clinched a playoff berth on Thursday night with a 127-112 statement win over the Phoenix Suns. Kevin Durant and Co. did everything they could to contain the league-best Celtics, but they had to learn the hard way that there’s just no slowing down Boston’s dynamic duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Tatum went off for 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting, while Brown was even better with a game-high 37 points with five triples. Simply put, the Suns just had no answer for the Tatum and Brown show on Thursday night.
Boston Celtics Star Jayson Tatum Issues Bold Warning
Tatum spoke to reporters after the game to discuss yet another impressive win. Right now, the five-time All-Star is doing all he can to soak this all up:
“It is important for us not to take these things for granted,” Tatum said, via Greard Angelo Samillano of ClutchPoints. “We’re not perfect, but we strive towards that. At this point in the season, to have 50 wins, we’re doing something right. The scary part is we can get better.”
If the Celtics haven’t reached their final form yet then the rest of the NBA have to be worried. Boston is far and beyond the best team in the league right now, winning nearly 80 percent of their games thus far.
At this point, there’s no denying that the championship hype is getting louder and louder.
Jaylen Brown Sounds Off on Win
For his part, Brown also isn’t taking anything for granted either. He is well aware of how special the season has been for the Celtics and the 27-year-old has taken all this in stride:
“I’m going to keep saying it until I’m blue in the face, man,” he said. “I’m grateful to be on a team that’s winning, to be on a team that’s playing the right way, that has another opportunity to do something special. That’s a blessing,”
All this also means that there’s going to be a ton of pressure on this group to finally bring home a title to Boston after 16 long years. Can they do it?
