After going 9-1 in their last 10 games before the All-Star break, the Cleveland Cavaliers have now fallen back down to earth. They have gone 3-4 since returning from the mid-season break, with a tough stretch of games ahead.
To make matters worse for the struggling Cavs, they will now have to be without superstar guard Donovan Mitchell for at least the next three games.
Cleveland Cavaliers Star Donovan Mitchell Ruled Out Vs. Celtics
Up next for the Cavs are the mighty Boston Celtics, who are currently riding an amazing 11-game winning streak. Cleveland gets to host Jayson Tatum and Co. on Tuesday at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. This comes after the Celtics completely destroyed Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors on Sunday in a shocking 140-88 blowout win.
The Cavs will now need to battle Boston without their best player available. Mitchell, who has missed Cleveland’s last two games due to a left knee injury, will now be out of commission for at least three more contests.
The Cavs made the announcement via Twitter:

That can’t be good. You also have to note that there’s no guarantee that Mitchell will be back after three games. As the report indicated, the team will re-evaluate his status over the weekend, which means that he could be out for an even longer period.
In the meantime, the Cavs have no other choice but to weather the storm, so to speak, as they look to secure their spot in the top half of the playoff picture in the East. They recently slipped to third in the conference and are now half a game behind the second-seed Milwaukee Bucks.
